Brother Updates

Brother Pete Holmes is an 8-year Army veteran struggling with PTSD following deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq. He now has a Warriors Heart K9 companion thanks to many of you that contributed to his GoFundMe appeal.  Here is an excerpt of his thanks:

I’m overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity shown to me and my service dog Krouse. We came home earlier this week and have been working together as a great new team. This would not have been possible without all of your support. With Krouse, I have a new lease on life and can finally go places that I otherwise would have avoided. She has fit into our family perfectly and I have our fraternity of Brothers to thank.  So an extremely heartfelt thank you to everyone.

Steve lived at 1918 Stewart for four years, serving as Treasurer before graduating in 1969. He subsequently received his Master Degree in Accounting and went on to obtain his CPA certificate and worked at Elmer Fox & Co in Wichita in the Audit, Tax Department and Consulting Departments, where he prepared feasibility studies used in financing health care facilities and retirement housing.

Steve went on to form his own practice where he consulted with Merrill Lynch Capital Markets Group regarding feasibility studies used in financing retirement facilities and continued to prepare feasibility studies for Wichita hospitals.  He later invested in real estate projects and partnered with the president of a New York art gallery to buy and sell art. He assisted a partnership in acquiring a Joan Miro painting used to make a mural located at the Wichita State University Ulrich Art Museum.  He also partnered with a mortgage broker to finance Resident Inn hotels.

Steve enjoys playing bridge, which began in college, and he won the Novas Division at a Regional Bridge tournament shortly after leaving college. Steve gave up bridge for 40 years during his career, but recently won the most master points awarded in a three day bridge tournament in Tulsa.  He hopes to become a Life Master at the next Regional Tournament.
